completed his undergraduate studies at Atatürk University, Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, majoring in Economics. Demonstrating a strong interdisciplinary interest early in his academic journey, he pursued two separate master’s degrees—one in Business Administration and the other in Economics—focusing on the intersection of organizational strategy and macroeconomic development.
He earned his PhD in Economic Development at the Tekirdağ Namık Kemal University in Turkiye, where his research concentrated on sustainable growth models, institutional reform, and the socio-economic impacts of policy implementation in emerging economies. His academic work has been complemented by practical experience in public administration, having served at the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization of Turkey, where he contributed to policy design and implementation in areas related to urban planning, environmental sustainability, and regional development.
Since 2010, Dr. Emek has been serving as the President of the İKSAD Institute (Economic Development and Social Research Institute), a leading think tank and research organization dedicated to advancing scholarly work in economics, social sciences, and development studies. Under his leadership, İKSAD has expanded its international collaborations, organized numerous academic conferences, and published a wide range of research outputs. He is fluent in English and Russian.
