Centrum Prawa Designu, Mody i Reklamy
The Center for Design, Fashion and Advertisement Law was established on the initiative of Dr. hab. Marlena Jankowska Augustyn at the Faculty of Law and Administration of the University of Silesia in Katowice on January 29, 2019. Beginning on May 1, 2020 it will be a Research Center of the University. This is the first center dealing with this subject at the university level in Poland.
When asked about the field of fashion and design law, I answer that it is like a woman’s handbag. Both are connected by their depth and by the fact that anything it once encompasses immediately comes to be at home there. The specificity and diversity of fashion and design law qualify the area as an independent research category. This Center exists to serve not only as a research resource, but also as a hub for, among others, artists, lawyers and representatives of science and industry. It is conceived, in part, to foster the development of creative ideas and business strategies based on the theory and practice of intellectual property law (IPR) and in general.
